Thomas Browne:

“the Devill playd at Chesse with mee, and yeelding a pawne, thought to gaine a Queen of me, taking advantage of my honest endeavours; and whilst I labour’d to raise the structure of my reason, hee striv’d to undermine the edifice of my faith.”

Finished reading: Traveling Mercies: Some Thoughts on Faith by Anne Lamott 📚

Finished reading: The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne 📚

This was perfect! So many lessons and things to ponder. I would especially recommend it too Christians. So much to teach about confession.

I really enjoyed this Jonathan Franzen interview by David Perell.

Finished reading: The Known World by Edward P. Jones 📚

The ending is a nice one, but the journey wasn’t any bit smooth; I feel so battered. Not a straightforwardly easy read in my opinion.
