Psalms 119:53, 138 Hot indignation seizes me, because of the wicked who forsake your Law. My eyes shed streams of tears, because people do not keep your Law.
Being Christians, are we still sorrowed by the world’s sins? Are we disturbed to see so many people turning their backs on God and taking such great pains to cast themselves into hell? Or have we learnt to brush it all aside as none of our business? Or worse, do other people’s sin only remind us of our own goodness and righteousness?
It ought not to be so dear brothers! One who sins today should be a warning to us that we could end up sinning tomorrow, one who is lost should remind us of what wretchedness would have been ours had Christ not met and loved and accepted us. Among those who are lost, there just might be sheep that belong to the flock and yet are not part of it. Let us speak against the sin in the world, having known what it is to fear God let us persuade men towards righteousness, let us warn them of hell, yet if they do not listen, like Jeremiah, still we must weep in secret for their pride, and weep bitterly and run down ourselves with tears, because the Lord’s flock has been taken captive (Jeremiah 13:17)
Prayer: Omnipotent God and merciful Father, have mercy on us sinners. Grant us repentant hearts that we may turn from our path of error and disobedience to You. And with hearts that that have known to fear God, teach us how to urge others to turn from their sins to You, to turn from death to Life. In Jesus Name. Amen.
